2) Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ) Material.  You will be assigned to a team.  Only ONE set of materials needed per team.

 

Course description

Survey of HRM activities including job analysis, performance appraisal, job evaluation, wage surveys, compensation and benefits, labor relations, health and safety, and relevant government regulations. Prerequisite: MGMT 305 or MGMT 360.

 


Course Requirements

200      Midterm & Final Exam; 100 pts each

80        Team Project 1: Current Issues in HR

80        Team Project 2: Job analysis (PAQ), and review and recommendations for job description and performance appraisal documents

20        Homework and Exercises

20        Professional Speaker Paper

40        Class attendance

 

Assignments & Exams.  All assignments must be typed and presented professionally.  NO missed or late assignments will be accepted except in cases of extreme emergency.  There will be no make up exams without medical or official school documentation.

 

Team Projects, Homework, and Exercises.  All students should read and prepare class material as assigned prior to coming to class.  Students will be assigned to a team for the semester.  Teams will have (3) roles:

A)  To research and present a current issue in HR to the class

B) To work with (1) participating professional to review and provide feedback regarding his/her job description and performance appraisal documents based on job analysis, and

C)  To provide feedback on team projects, homework, and exercises for each team member.

 

Class attendance: It is understandable that scheduling conflicts may occur during the semester.  I respect students’ ability to make choices regarding difficult situations and do not require excuses or notifications for missed classes.  It is the student’s responsibility to get class notes from other classmates.  Students missing 5-7 classes will lower their course grade by (1) letter.  Students missing 8 or more classes will receive an F in the course.
