Course Requirements & Grading Scale – 250 points

160 pts   4 exams

70 pts     Assignments

20 pts     Class preparation

I.              Exams:  The purpose of the exams is to assess individuals’ knowledge of class information in the discipline. Exams may be multiple choice, matching, fill in, and essay.   Questions will be asked based on reading material assigned and material discussed in class.  If a student feels an exam question may have been incorrectly graded, s/he may discuss the specifics with the instructor during office hours.  The fourth exam will be offered during the time as indicated in the BGSU schedule during the week of May 6, final exam week.  No make up exams will be offered without medical or official school documentation.

II.            Assignments:  Assignments will be made throughout the semester.  Assignments may require both in-class and out-of-class work.  All out-of-class assignments are due at the beginning of class and will not be accepted at any other time.  There are no make up assignments unless medical or official school documentation is submitted for the day of the assignment.

IV            Class preparation:  This refers to your attendance and the quality of your participation in class activities (e.g., integration and application of reading assignments, constructiveness of contribution, active participation in small group work, completion of exercises and attendance) and to the demonstration of behaviors likely to enhance our class as a learning community (e.g., the core values of BGSU – respect for one another, cooperation, intellectual and spiritual growth, creative imaginings, and pride in a job well done).  Inappropriate behavior, as defined by the professor, and frequent absences will be reflected in a student’s grade. To receive full credit, you are expected to actively participate in class and submit assignments on time.
