Welcome to Donna Greenwald's Class!!

This course is also known as Business Communication. BA 203 involves both critical thinking and writing as well as provides a series of real-life business situations which you will be asked to provide a solution.  Assignments consist of a combination of memos, letters, and e-mails.  A taped oral mediation assignment, a final exam, and a formal report are also part of this course. The course has been built upon what we refer to as the four pillars of business communication:

OBJECTIVES

bulletIncorporate a framework of communication theory and proven principles to meet the communication needs of today’s business workplace
bulletUse strategic and reflective thinking to achieve desired communication objectives
bulletOrganize and present ideas in a logical, clear, and accurate manner
bulletDetermine and use an appropriate writing format and approach for communicating professionally in response to various business situations
bulletDevelop various business correspondences and content messages (e.g., persuasive, positive, etc.) for a variety of target audiences associated with a business organization
bulletPlan, draft, revise, edit, and proofread written documents according to professional writing standards using the entire composition process
bulletPlan and conduct business research in order to effectively organize and prepare business reports and proposals
bulletStrategize and develop oral business communication, such as in the mediation process, to enhance oral presentation skills
bulletUse computer and electronic communication technologies to achieve communication objectives
bulletAssess legal and ethical considerations of business situations
bulletDevelop strategies for correspondence and communication relevant to job searches

 

Success in this course will depend not only upon diligent and thoughtful application of the principles but also upon an ability to weld the principles in the various sections into an overall integrated approach to business communication.  It also depends on your ability to successfully participate in classroom discussions.
