The College’s most prestigious award, the Karl E. Vogt Award, was presented to a well-deserving graduating business student, specializing in accounting and finance. Curtis Farnsel, a native of Metamora, Ohio, has had an outstanding academic career at BGSU and is currently serving as president of Beta Alpha Psi, the professional business fraternity. Outside of academics, he is a three- year letterman of the BGSU cross country team as well as the team’s co-captain.
Not only has Curtis been recognized by the College of Business Administration for his achievements, but he already received the 2006-2007 Senior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award presented by the BGSU athletic department.
Curtis’ future plans include joining the College’s Master of Accountancy program. After completing graduate school, he has already accepted full-time employment with Ernst and Young.
It was a very hard choice for the College’s selection committee to make. The other two deserving finalists for the award were Leo Svoboda, financial economics and economics specialization, and Scott Vaughan, finance specialization.
The Karl Vogt Award is named in honor of a former dean of the College of Business Administration and recognizes an outstanding senior in business who demonstrates superior scholarship as well as participation, leadership, and excellence in campus and community activities.
Farnsel was named the Vogt Award winner during the College’s Honors and Awards program at the end of the spring semester. More than 120 students were recognized for their academic achievements over the past year and $252,000 worth of scholarships were given to well-deserving business students.
Also attending the awards program were generous scholarship supporters as well as family and friends of the honored students.
