NOTE: Under no circumstance, aside from an official university closing, will a STAT 211 exam be cancelled. Should a note appear outside the classroom indicating that an exam is cancelled, ignore the note and wait for your instructor to administer the exam.

Prerequisite for STAT 211 (No exceptions permitted)

Credit for MATH 126 or MATH 131 or a C or better in MATH 134

Note: Credit means a grade of D or better. However, a grade of C or better in MATH 126 or MATH 131 is required by the CBA for graduation. You may enroll in Stat 211 with a D in MATH 126 or MATH 131, but this will NOT meet the requirement for graduation set by the CBA.

The prerequisite will be checked for each student. This will begin no earlier than the second week of classes and will continue until completed. Any student not meeting the prerequisite WILL BE DROPPED from STAT 211 when this is discovered. Since you can only add courses during the first week of classes and our check will not start until the second week, it is in your best interest to drop now (if you do not meet the prerequisites) while you still have a chance to add courses.

(Transfer students who earned a C or better in a calculus course at another university that did not transfer as MATH 126 or MATH 131 should see the Chair of the Department of Applied Statistics and Operations Research in BA 344 to see if they are eligible to remain in STAT 211 with concurrent registration in MATH 126 or MATH 131).

GRADING
Your course grade will be based on a total of 375 points. There will be two exams worth 100
points each and a comprehensive final worth 150 points. Also, each instructor will assign
an additional 25 possible points for quizzes and/or homework assignments, which will be
standardized so that no one section has an advantage over any other. Your course grade
will be based on a scale established for all sections of STAT 211 combined.

EXAMINATIONS
All examinations will be CLOSED BOOK and CLOSED NOTES. However, one 3"x 5" index
card of notes (back-to-back) will be allowed for each of the first two exams and three 3"x 5"
index cards of notes (back-to-back) will be allowed for the final exam. Necessary tables will be
provided. Calculators will be permitted (no sharing of calculators). All work must be shown
to receive full credit and instructions should be followed in order to avoid point deductions.

MAKE-UP EXAMS
If you have a regularly scheduled BGSU class which conflicts with the times of the mid-term
examinations, you will be given make-up exams if you attend the conflicting class. Everyone
requesting a make-up exam must provide your instructor with an OFFICIAL copy of your
complete schedule (courses, times, instructors, and personal identification number) in advance
(by SEPTEMBER 12 for Exam I, OCTOBER 24 for Exam II, and NOVEMBER 26 for the Final Exam). After the conflict is verified, you will be given a make-up no later than the day after the regularly scheduled exam. NO make-up will be given for a missed make-up exam.

Make-up examinations will not be given for other reasons unless an emergency occurs in which
the coordinator decides a make-up is warranted. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL A
MAKE-UP EXAM BE GIVEN UNLESS YOUR INSTRUCTOR OR THE COORDINATOR
IS CONTACTED PRIOR TO THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED EXAM.

IIf a make-up exam is granted, the student must attend the conflicting activity to be eligible to
take the make-up exam. Any student found not attending the conflicting activity prior to
completion of the semester will receive a 0 (zero) for the exam.

A picture ID IS REQUIRED for all make-up exams.

MID-SEMESTER GRADE REPORTING
An academic early warning strategy designed to alert and offer assistance to new, first-year students who are experiencing difficulty in their classes is in effect. Mid-term semester grades will be collected for new, first year students.

PENALTY FOR CHEATING
The MINIMUM penalty for cheating on any graded material is a score of 0 (zero). The occurrence will be reported to your Dean's office.

DISABILITY POLICY
In accordance with the University policy, if the student has a documented disability and requires accommodations to obtain equal access in this course, he or she should contact the instructor at the beginning of the semester and make this need known. Students with disabilities must verify their eligibility through the Office of Disability Services for Students, 413 South Hall, 419-372-8495. (http://www.bgsu.edu/offices/sa/disability/index.html)

NOTE: Students will need a grade of C or better in STAT 211 in order to take STAT 212.
