The
typical student in the M.S. in Applied Statistics
program
will take two years to complete the program. Outlined
below are three "typical" programs that
might be followed.
The first
program would
be appropriate for the student who has a Bachelors
degree in Mathematics, and some undergraduate
Statistics, but not a one-year sequence in Mathematical
Statistics. Students without a one-year undergraduate
Mathematical Statistics course are encouraged
to complete MATH 541-542 before enrolling in
MATH 641-642.
The second
program could
be followed by a student with a B.S. in Mathematics,
including a one-year sequence in Mathematical
Statistics. The second program can be completed
in one and one-half years, although that is not
mandatory.
The third program could
be followed by a student whose Mathematics background
is somewhat less than the equivalent of a B.S.
in Mathematics. This program includes remedial
work in Linear Algebra and Advanced Calculus,
and would take two years to complete.
